So, I’ve been thinking about starting this blog for five years now. You might think that kind of delay makes me lazy- a procrastinator of sorts. But let me explain. I’m your normal recent college graduate. I’ve got a degree in something that I don’t want to do for a career and I don’t have much of a permanent living situation set up yet. In fact, I’m writing this post in a coffee shop because I don’t have WiFi. I spend so much time in this cafe that the baristas know my name and the fact that I buy the cheapest item possible just so I can steal their WiFi a little longer. I swear one of these days they’re going to call me out on it.
Anyways, as I sit here day after day scouring Craigslist for some sort of job- one that doesn’t require a mile-long list of qualifications that I don’t have or some obscure PhD I most definitely don’t have, which, let me tell you, it’s no piece of cake- I realized that the kind of job I want isn’t going to be something I send in a resume for. I’ve been debating starting a blog for years now and now I’m going to do it. For a whole year. Yes, a year. Whatever happens in that year will be what it is. But I’m going to stick with it. I figure I’ll just write about whatever tickles my fancy. There’s nothing worse than sitting at your computer and staring at a blank page, trying to muster up words to talk about something you really have no interest in. And trust me, I’ve done plenty of that recently with my cover letters. There is nothing harder than trying to convince hiring recruiters that you’re the candidate they need when, quite frankly, you yourself don’t even know why you want the job!
